These photos are taking of the Alpha Sigma Alpha (ASA) House located on East Street in Bloomsburg.
This photo is taken of the downstairs living room in the ASA house. In this photo you can see the composites which starts with the girls in ASA in 2010 and goes down by one year. The composites are very valuable to the girls in the sorority because there are composites dating back to 1998 that shows sisters that were a part of ASA in Bloomsburg back when we were still in Elementary School. The room is very bare besides the composites on the wall and the couches that look pretty old.
This is a picture of the upstairs room which is called the study. You can see that this room is much more decorated with some pictures on the wall and the painted on Alpha Sigma Alpha along with the sorority's chapter, which is delta chi (ΔX). This room has two futons, but one seems to be missing the metal frame which I was told that they were buying a new one because the old one broke. Also you can see in the doorway ladybugs which throughout this house you saw a lot of because their symbol is the ladybug and since this is a national sorority the lady bug is known across the U.S. to ASA as their sorority symbol. This room is a typical room in the sorority house. Most of the rooms are doubled but four are single bedrooms. This is known to be one of the biggest bed rooms in the house and to the left of this photo is another big bed so this room could fit three people but only two are in it as of now. As you can see mostly all the rooms have some sort of letters on the wall to indicate ASA with either wall letters, like in this room, or the painted on letters in the picture of the study. You can also see that their is a ladybug on the top bunk of the bed which is seen everywhere throughout this house.
This is a picture of the upstairs hallway in the house that leads to the bedroom which is photographed above. On the wall are ladybug with Pearl (or Pledge) Classes names on them. These are sort of like composites but this indicates who is in what pearl class. This is only a few of the ladybugs that are in the house their are more which extend to downstairs. It starts with the first pearl class that ever existed at Bloomsburg and goes all the way up to the most recent pearl class which is the 64th, which means there are a lot of ladybugs. Also to the right you see a blue curtain which leads to a closet that belongs to the people that live in the bedroom straight ahead in this picture.

The literacy practices that I observed from this group was they like to hang out and talk about events in the sorority like mixers, community service ideas, and fundraising ideas. Many of the other sisters that did not live at the house came over a lot and everyone just hangs out and talks about many different topics. When ASA gets together they never run out of things to talk about and many share funny stories that may have happened to them during the day. It is a fun environment and the literacy practices are easy going and they are a welcoming group to all.
